There is a growing trend amongst some American Muslims to make liking or disliking President Donald Trump a litmus test for our faith or lack thereof. Growing up as a Muslim in America, we never used to do that. We were more about principle than we were about personality. In the Muslim community, people were basically free to like or dislike whomever they wanted based on their own personal experience, history, perspectives, and freedom of individual choice.

People will check each other by their like or dislike of one man, President Trump and totally disregard each other’s like or dislike for heresy, falsehood or polytheism. It’s like you can do or say or believe anything you want but as long as you hate Donald Trump you are a cool Muslim. Or you can be devoutly committed to Islam, Allah, and to his Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم but if you had the slightest like for Trump, all of that becomes null and void.

Back in the day, personality was inconsequential when it came to Faith. Now it’s the other way around faith has become inconsequential when it comes to personality. I have made a vow not to use any profanity anymore on social media but gosh.
Some of our concentrated stupidity and slave mindedness really makes you wanna cuss. Most of the time we have no idea who’s authoring this stupid-ass politicised theology. we don’t even think about that. We don’t even think about sources. We just swallow everything, and anything that’s handed to us.
That’s why I happen to like the Donald, at least he’s real, says what he wants to say، and not afraid of making a mistake. Nowadays people are turning away from Islam, not because of our beliefs, or theology, but because of our sheer stupidity and ass-backwardness.
We turn away, and disregard islamic principal, even when there is isnaad (chain of transmission) and then turn around and follow convoluted and unprincipled politics that has no isnaad at all. America knows who their president is, we as most some Americans don’t even know who’s in charge around this joint.
