The Pious Look, Imam Luqman Ahmad

All a person has to do to look pious these days, is throw on a hijab, a niqaab, a thobe, a nice fancy kufi, some pointy slippers, and boom! Piety in the house!

People be like, going to the masjid? Put on the pious look. Going to the club? Put on the other look, the sexy look. Feeling risqué? Put on the straight up hoe look. Feeling like da Mack? Put on the playah look. Got that crossover fever? Put on the gay look. You can buy just about any look you want for less than $200.

Many people are fooled today by the pious look. Looks can be deceptive. Put on a shaykh robe, and suddenly, you become a shaykh, no matter how ignorant of the religion you may be. Put some thikr beads around your neck and suddenly you’re spiritual, maybe Sufi. Of course you don’t have to be a real Sufi these days,  just sufi-like. Lol.

We live in a time where image is everything. When in reality, image is nothing. Sooner or later all images will fade when reality hits.
